Can't believe I forgot to check in here last night but had a late reservation for me and my son for a special celebration. He was wanting to hit a high end steak house in Atlanta so had to pick between Chops, Bones, Kevin Rathbun and we went for the furthest from home- Kevins. Arrived a bit early so went to the bar to have a cold IPA and opted for one of the appetizers- the thick cut bacon. Damn- that was good!!! If my son didn't have 3/4 gone before I snagged a piece, not sure I would have had a bite but tasty, thick and addictive... It was gone in a minute. Finally table called a bit late - but we were ready and had already studied what we wanted before we arrived 1. Started with apps- the Lobster Fritters and Bone marrow. The Fritters we're 4 bites of pure lobster heaven. So we ordered another one as there are only 4 bites, and closed our eyes and each got a whole app. 2. The Bone Marrow was something my son had not tried and it was fantastic!! 2 large bones, crisp bread, and cranberry compliment to mix. Scoop out the marrow, spread on cracker, add a bite of cranberry, wow. We both loved it, loved the presentation and dug right through it. 3. Anticipating our entree- we then ordered Foie Gras so it would arrive with the entrees. Stole a small bite but wanted to share with the entrees. 4. For Entrees- we did a Bone in Filet -MR- a 16 OZ NY Strip and for sides the cooked spinach and the best- the cream jalapeño corn. 5. The Filet was perfect. Actually, the first bone in filet I've ever had- and I have had a lot of Filets- cooked perfect, juicy, loved pulling the bits off the bone. Put a slice of foie gras, and the black truffle butter- OMG... perfect. To compliment both meals- we ordered a whole steamed lobster tail so paired that as well with the corn, spinach, foie gras, spinach and a good merlot- it can't get any better, 6. The NY Strip was perfectly cooked and paired as well just as I did my Filet. Perfectly cooked R/MR, tender, tasty- mixed with all the goodies- it was a LOT of food. Service from Eric was spot on, great recommendations and made sure we were happy all night! 7. Still not done. Although I had now had a beer, some wine, a Whisky ( lots of water) - had to get a desert so we went for the Creme Brûlée . Thick coating of blazed on sugary crispy bark- the way I like it, and a wonderful vanilla creme inside. We dug in and were done. - We thought. As I like to finish a meal with a cordial- I opted for a Hennesy VSOP, and with a large Cigar option- I chose a good Romeo /Julieta and headed to the outside patio to finish the evening. Probably one of the most relaxed evenings and only regrets was I was not on expense account- which I usually am for places like KR, so albeit buyers remorse in the $$$$ spent, worth it for my son who keeps reaching his goals and loves his experiences in some finer things in life and has earned every experience he has had. Thanks for the great night KR!!
